The Mumbai Metro 3 project has been a talking point since quite a few days and also the politicisation has made the matter worse. The real picture is quite different than the information passed on to the public by the Government and MMRCL , revealed under an RTI. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) has revealed to RTI Activist Anil Galgali that they have planned to rehabilitate the project affected people ( PAPs) to Chakala, Oshiwara, Kurla, Vidyavihar, and Wadala. Also in total 2464 constructions are coming in the way of the ever ambitious Metro 3 project and 241 different construction at Mahim and other places will be demolished 100%, reveals the RTI.
The information on the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3 line was soughted on 26th February 2015, by Anil Galgali via RTI. There are 24 spot between Cuffe Parade to Aarey colony and 241 buildings at Naya Nagar, Mahim that are coming in the way of this project. Out of the total 2223, 1544 are residential buildings, 576 commercial, 31 buildings Residential cut commercial and 72 other constructions that need to be acted upon.
On asked by Anil Galgali about the Government plan to rehabilitate these PAPs within a radius of 3 kms, it was again revealed that the rehabilitation is planned in Chakala, Oshiwara, Kurla, Vidyavihar. MMRCL reply that slumdwellers occupying public places will be shifted to Bhakti park, Wadala and Wonderland at oshiwara in the MMRDA buildings. These buildings have flats admeasruing 225 Sq. Feet. Also M/s HDIL have started work of construction of houses under the Slum rehabilitation authority. Under this project near to Kurla Premier (w) and Kurla (East) near Bhandari Metalgrij and at Chakala near Andheri constructions are going in full swing and houses admeasruing 269 Sq. Ft will be made available.
When asked to the MMRCL the list of demolitions that will take place from Kalbadevi Station to Girgaum, it was revealed that Vithaldas building near Girgaum station, VIP luggage showroom, Annapurna Niwas, Kranti Nagar, Ekta Society, Doodh Papeshwar, Shri Ram Bhavan, Swami Niwas and Narmadadevi Trust at Kalbadevi, Kotkar Building no 17, Building no 19, Sabina Building /Talathi House, Todiwaala Building, Munnalal Mansion A & B , Sona Chamber, Fish Market, Hem Villa, Chatwal Building, Khan House, Building no 591, Building no 593 Building no 595, Raajsheela Building, Kapadia Building, Chira Bazaar 605 and 607 are included in the list of demolitions. Highest affected structures was MIDC which impact upon 628 different type of structures. After that Girgaon 355, Kalbadevi 294, BKC 264 and Aarey Colony 262. Interesting that no single complaint received by MMRCL against the Metro 3. There are so many request regarding rehabilitation and other issues.
The claims put through by the Government and the MMRCL in the arts to this ambitious project are in contrast. The government claims that there will be no rehabilitation but the RTI information put at MMRCL claims altogether a differnent picture. RTI activist Anil Galgali has sought information and asked to Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis the same to be made avaialable online to both the Government and MMRCL with full Project details.
