Resolutions approved by Municipal Councillors receive a thumbs down from Municipal Commissioner

The apathy of the MCGM towards the general public is a common knowledge, forcing the public to approach its elected representative to get a voice for its problems. But it has now come to light that the condition of the Peoples representatives are also far from satisfaction, through a reply to a query filed by RTI Activist Anil Galgali, almost 243 resolutions adopted by the Municipal Corporation and its Committees have received a Royal ignore from the Municipal Commissioner and are pending for cognizance and action.

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought a list of pending resolutions moved by the Councillors from the Administrative Officer of the Municipal Commissioners Office. This query was transferred to the Municipal Secretary Office by the MC Office. The Dy Municipal Secretary & The Public Information Officer of the Municipal Secretary department, Smt Shobhana Yerandkar, in a reply to the query forwarded the copy of the Municipal Corporations Monthly Program list along-with its annexures for the month of January 2015. They also provided a list of pending 243 resolutions upto 30th September 2014. The Municipal Secretary department has also questioned the Municipal Commissioner why such a report was not generated before 31st December 2014. Amongst these resolutions were some of very useful resolutions for the benefit of Mumbai, which has been stone walled by the Commissioner. Expressing regrets about the actions of the Commissioner, Anil Galgali has written a letter to the CM Devendra Fadnavis demanding directions to all Municipal Commissioners including Mumbai to take actions and implement resolutions within 30 days of approval.
