Students, labourers and others in the Migrant Indians of Mumbai have started receiving medical certificates for free by the One Rupee clinic at Kurla East. The service will continue till Wednesday 6th May.
The government has indirectly allowed the loot by making the Migrant Indians mandatory for medical certificates. It was found that doctors recovered Rs. 100 to 5000 to issue medical certificates to such Migrant Indians. After coming across with this malpractices, noted RTI activist Anil Galgali called for a public meeting against the looting of the poor and discussed this issue with Dr Rahul Ghule, the Director of the One Rupee Clinic and advised him to issue certificate free of cost. The clinic, which has already done thermal testing for free to lakhs of people in Mumbai, readily accepted it and started screening the targeted person. This service will continue till 6th May.
According to Anil Galgali, there was no point approaching government, BMC and police as they did not act on the complaints rather remained a mute spectator in the case. "Therefore, it was a good call to issue medical certificates in free of cost, to end this menace," Galgali said.
