Court rejects, Modi accepts House to House Surveillance

RTI Activist Anil Galgali filed a PIL in the Bombay High Court seeking home to home screening of citizens for the purpose of identification of Corona positive cases and with the purpose of isolating and treating such cases to control the spread of the pandemic proactively and effectively. The PIL was dismissed by the Hon'ble Bombay High Court citing practical constraints looking at the size of population and density of slums. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepts Galgali representation and include it in the Guidelines for lockdown 4.0

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had in representations to PM Shri Narendra Modi had demanded that door to door screening be implemented in Mumbai looking at the rapidly increasing cases of Corona positive cases erupting on daily basis. He had made the demand looking at the increasing trend of positive cases in Mumbai. The emphasis was to proactively and aggressively trace positive patients, so that isolation and treatment can immediately happen. This will also reduce the cases of Corona positive patients when they are identified and isolated early.

In the guidelines for lockdown 4.0 released by the MHA, the Central Government had made emphasis on tracing of Corona positive cases and recommended house to house surveillance as well as all measures to be taken to contain the spread in containment zones.

Anil Galgali has expressed satisfaction for considering and recommendations for house to house surveillance in Containment Zones for proactive action in reducing the positive cases. He has thanked PM Shri Narendra Modi for giving cognizance to the demand which was most urgently needed to be implemented. Galgali further expressed hope that local administration will implement the same proactively.
