5 IAS officers in Maharashtra suspended, while 1 removed from service

Mumbai- We keep hearing that, nothing changes with the change of government. The role of the IAS officers are very important for smooth running of any govt. In Maharashtra almost 5 IAS officers have been suspended in past 3 years and only 1 officer was relieved from service in past 8 years. This information was provided to RTI activist Anil Galgali by the Govt of Maharashtra. RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the government about various actions on IAS officers in the past 10 years including suspensions, removals, also complaints against them and subsequent actions. The Under Secretary of the GAD Shri J B Kulkarni informed Anil Galgali that, Majorly documents related to the query has been destroyed in the fire incident dated 21st June 2012. After that 5 IAS officers have been suspended, whereas 1 IAS officer has been relieved from service. Shri Vijay Kumar Agarwal has been relieved from the service in 2007,since related documents have been destroyed by fire, on 21/06/2012, further details can not be provided, informed Kulkarni. Also the information related to the 5 suspended IAS officers cannot be given under Section 8(1)(J) of the RTI Act 2005 as the enquiry is in progress. Anil Galgali expressed his view that, though the govt gives due power and trust on the IAS officers, the officer randomly fail to deliver and perform. The Officers are mostly busy in serving their own interests, hence the cases of suspensions of Officers are rising stated Galgali.
