Doyens like Shyam Benegal, R K Laxman, Mrinal Sen have held the post in the past. The Administration Officer Shri S K Dekate of the FTII in the reply to Anil Galgali informed that, since 1999 till now 9 Chairman's have held the position out of which Shri U R Ananthmurthy held the position for three terms spanning 8 years attended office 26 times, After that Saeed Mirza was Chairman for 3 years and his attendance was 20 times. Gajendra Chauhan was appointed as Chairman on 09/06/2015, but his appointment in the list provided shows his appointment date as 04/03/2014, but whichever his date of appointment may be, he has yet to pay a visit to his office. Though an appointment has been made, but the situation arisen is as good as the institution being headless and hence Anil Galgali has demanded in a letter addressed to PM Modi that justice be done to the post. # Institute silent on the issue of educational qualifications for the position. Anil Galgali had also sought information about the requirements of educational qualifications as well as other eligibility for the position of the Chairman of the FTII. This query has been transferred by the Institute under section 6(3) of the RTI Act, 2005 to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Actually this information related to the qualifications and other eligibility for the position of Chairman should have been provided by the FTII, but why it is remaining silent is a matter of concern expressed Galgali.
