Fare Fixation Committee hearing is being conducted within the Mumbai Metro office in Metro Yard

It has been now more than a year for the first MUMBAI METRO to commenced it's operations of plying commuters between versova and Ghatkopar,what was supposed to be a service for all people looking for a fast, efficient and comfortable means of travel,got immediately converted into a travel mode for exclusive people due to the arbitrary action of the Reliance group, which controls the MMOPL,  to increase fares,taking metro beyond the reach of a common man. RTI Activist Anil Galgali raise a question that Why FFC has been provided office within the premises of MMOPL at the 1st Floor, OCC Building, Metro Depot in D. N. Nagar. Also the Nodal officer appointed is provided by MMOPL. A letter address to Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, Anil Galgali stated that they have been raising the issue with the govt which has been a mute spectator on the issue though being a partner in the venture.  The inaction of the state government to constitute the fare fixation committee on time gave MMOPL the requisite leverage to increase its fares. Why the FFC constitution was delayed is a subject of imagination for all. Now that the FFC has been constituted after due direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, where the matter had reached after the govt was forced out of its slumber by the strong public reactions and criticism the very functioning of the FFC has come under suspicion, at the office for the FFC has been provided within the premises of MMOPL at the metro yard in versova. Also the Nodal officer appointed is provided by MMOPL,said Galgali. Galgali further added that This action has led to suspicion about the confidentiality of the process, as all the complaints have to be filed with the Nodal officer and the hearing too is being conducted within the MMOPL premises.  It can be easily understood that the MMOPL is in full awareness of all the complaints and has therefore got a lead time to prepare it's papers in accordance to various complaints which amount to above 181 in numbers. RTI Activists Anil Galgali request Cm and MMRDA Commissioner UPS Madan to shift the FFC office out of the MMOPL premises and the govt provide a Nodal officer for the same, to maintain the ethics and sovereignty of the FFC.
