Oh Sai: 17 months on, Shirdi Sansthan not getting contractor to generate solar power

The iconic Saibaba temple stands tall in its grace of being the holy place quite literally and serves food to over 50,000 devotees daily as Prasad in Asia's largest dining hall in Shirdi. But unfortunately, Shirdi Sansthan trust, which manages its daily affairs, has failed to get contractor to generate solar power even after publishing advertisements not once or twice, but four times in last 17 months. Mumbai-based RTI activist Anil Galgali has revealed this unpleasant information through his query filed with Sansthan Trust. Ironically, Sansthan has spent Rs 2,47,388 in lieu of publishing advertisements.

RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust Shirdi for construction of 10 MW solar PV system for Sansthan, Shirdi under non-conventional energy and details of contractor appointed. The PR department of the Trust informed Anil Galgali that Sansthan published advertisements for four times on 8 Sept 2018, 7 November 2018, 4 January 2019 and 23 June 2019 and spent total Rs 2,47,388 on these four advertisements.

Anil Galgali has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and has sought to know that whether Shirdi management is really looking forward to unconventional energy, and by the way money is being spent on advertising, should be examined. Anil Galgali has argued that for the want of solar power, lakhs of rupees are being wasted on electricity and donations every month made by the common people and seekers.
