Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao frequently Hyderabad and Chennai at government expense

Former governor of Maharashtra, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao visited Hyderabad and Chennai more frequently on tax payers money in his his 5-year tenure and spent a total of 45 lakh on 214 different air trips. This shocking information has been given by Raj Bhavan to RTI Activist Anil Galgali which further finds that out of 214 trips he made in his tenure, he made 83 trips to Hyderabad and 22 trips to Chennai. 

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information from Raj Bhavan that about Governor Vidyasagar Rao's visits abroad and India in 5 years. Replying to his query, Raj Bhavan Office Superintendent Pradeep Angane stated that Vidyasagar Rao did not travel a single foreign country. He also said that the governor is given the facility of state guest in the state and india, so he does not have the information about the residence expenditure. According to reply, from 2nd January 2015 to 3rd September 2019, Rs 45,03,651 were spent on total air, road and boat expenses in 57 months. Vidyasagar Rao made a total of 214 trips with most of the air travel. 

RTI details also find that all the journeys were official out of which 83 trips were made to Hyderabad and 22 to Chennai. Some of the journeys, Rao made to Vijayawada, Amravati and Tirupati. As per RTI information, The first 3 years Rao travelled fiercely.  54 in the year 2015, 53 in the year 2016 and 49 in the year 2017. 36 in the year 2018 and 22 trips in the year 2019. Rao continued for 3 to 15 days outside Maharashtra. 
     
According to Anil Galgali, Since Governor made all trips on public money, therefore, every visit should be uploaded to the Raj Bhavan website, including the expenditure, so that the functioning of the Governor can be easily known to the common people. Writing a letter to Present Governor, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Dy Chief minister Ajit Pawar, Galgali has demanded that since More than 50 per cent of Rao's journeys belonged to his home state, therefore his all details be made be public by Raj Bhavan.
