Mumbaikars sought 11 Certified Extract of Electoral Roll per day 

A Right to Information (RTI) has found that on an average Mumbaikars sought 11 Certified extract of electoral roll from the election department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. BMC issue 12,485 Extract of electrol roll in the last three years.

Replying to an RTI query, filed by the RTI Activist Anil Galgali, BMC has stated that it issued 12,486 certified extract of electoral roll in the last three years by levying applicable fees from the applicant. Reply furnished by the Administrative Electoral Officer of the BMC said that it issued 4,121 extract of electoral rolls in 2016-17 obtaining Rs 4.98 and in the subsequent year 2017-18, it issued 4,135 extract of electoral roll by collecting Rs 5.90 lakh. While in the recently concluded financial year 2018-19, BMC issued 4,230 extract of electoral rolls after receiving Rs 7 lakh as fees for the same.

Permanent residents of the city seek the certified copy of the extract of electoral roll from the civic body to procure it as valid documents for various purposes. Electoral Department of the BMC has also said that voter lists of voting taken place in the years 1960, 1967, 1972, 1978, 1985, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017 are uploaded on BMC's website. Besides, voter list is available to the residents of the city in free of cost on each Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 11 am to 2 pm and the copies of the list are given to the residents on valid demand.

BMCalso said that the physical copy of the voter list of the years 1960,1967 and 1972 are too old, while the voter list of the years 1978, 1985, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017 have been prepared in the accordance with voter list conducted for the legislative assembly polls.
