CM Devendra Fadnavis collects Rs 253 crores in its Relief Fund

At a time when Maharashtra is facing a severe drought and the farmers committing suicide,followed by the claims of empty coffers, the CM Devendra Fadnavis in a personal drive ensured a collection of a whopping Rs 253 crores in its CM Relief Fund, this information was provided to RTI Activist Anil Galgali, by the CM Relief Fund desk. Rs 76 crores out of the collection has been distributed too. RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the CM Relief Fund desk about the balance in its account prior to CM Devendra Fadnavis taking office and also after his assuming the office. He also sought the the total amount of funds utilised and the balance in its account. The Public Information Officer in the CM Relief Fund desk in its reply to the query informed Galgali that,the Balance in the CM Relief Fund before 1st November 2014 was Rs 11 crores 68 Lakhs 43 Thousand 475. After CM Devendra Fadnavis took over as CM, Rs 253 Crores 5 lakhs 3 Thousand 76 was collected, taking the total balance to Rs 264 Crores 68 Lakhs 96 Thousand 551 and out this balance Rs 76 crores 19 Lakhs 67 Thousand 88 was disbursed from the Fund and the current balance being Rs 188 crores 49 Lakhs 29 Thousand 463. # Fixed Deposits of Rs 124 Crores. With an aim that there should never be any shortfall in the CM Relief Fund and every deserving seeker be helped , there is a practice to keep funds in Fixed Deposits. The FD's in the Fund was Rs 124 Crores 50 Lakhs 32 Thousand 346, prior to CM Fadnavis assuming office and there has been no change in the status uptill now with the balance in FD's remaining the same, taking the total of Balance in FD's and its account to Rs 312 Crores 99 Lakhs 61 Thousand 809. RTI Activist Anil Galgali had recently exposed the grant of Rs 8 Lakhs from the Relief Funds for a Dance Troupe, after the exposure the Dance Troupe returned the grant of Rs 8 Lakhs to the Fund. Anil Galgali has congratulated the CM for his initiative to collect funds for the Relief Fund, which is heplfill for the deserving poor and needy people. Galgali also expressed that the Rich and capable citizens should donate to the Relief Fund and strengthen the hands of the Govt to help the needy. He also coutioned the govt to be alert and ensure that the poor, needy and deserving people are only sanctioned from the Fund.
