There are two Stadiums situated in the heart of the city and none of the matches faced any troubles due to the security provided by the police, thanks to Mumbai Police for providing it's fool prove security arrangements. However, Mumbai Cricket Association has not yet paid Rs 14.82 crore to the Mumbai police as fees for providing security for IPL and other major cricket tournaments, even though the cricketing body of Mumbai has been sent 30 reminders. Rs 14.82 crore of different matches are outstanding and mumbai police has informed RTI activist Anil Galgali about sending 30 reminders to the Mumbai Cricket Association to recover the same.
RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the Mumbai police about the security provided for various cricket matches and the settlement fee charged for the same. Mumbai police briefed Anil Galgali about the matches played in the last 8 years. These matches include Women's World Cup (2013), World Cup T20 (2016), Test matches (2016), IPL matches (2017 and 2018) and other ODI matches and therefore MCA owes of Rs 14.82 crore as security fees and same has not been paid even after sending over two dozen reminders.
According to Mumbai police, the Mumbai Cricket Association has paid a fee of only Rs 1.40 crore for the 2018 IPL cricket match in the last 8 years. The fees for the cricket match from 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020 has not been recovered so far as the government of Maharashtra has not issued an order on how much fee to be charged.
Mumbai police has claimed that till 4th January 2020, Mumbai police had sent 30 reminders to the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association to pay the dues. The Mumbai police has also written a letter to the additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department for not paying the fee by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Anil Galgali has written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department demanding that an FIR be lodged against the Mumbai Cricket Association for not paying the outstanding amount. He also demanded to initiate the process of confiscating the property of the association by the district collector so that the dues can be recovered.
