The meeting was convened by Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut at the request of Mumbai Youth Congress president Ganesh Yadav. BEST General Manager Surendra Bagade, Adani Company's Kailas Shinde, Tata Officials, Anil Galgali, Vijay Kanojia, Kachru Yadav and Jagdeeshan were present at the meeting. Ganesh Yadav objected to the renewed bills sent for March, April and May as most consumers have already paid the bills and demanded the difference be written off. He suggested organizing camps and resolving people's grievances as there lot of chaos and people do not understand how such high bills have come this time.
Anil Galgali raised the issue that there has been no reading for three months, so why is there a wheeling charge, a fixed charge and a carrying charge. Reducing capex costs will reduce the bill next year. Earlier, Messrs. Adani was spending Rs 400 crore per annum and now it is spending Rs 1,200 crore. This indirectly affects the consumers, alleged Galgali.
BEST, Adani and other electricity suppliers of Mumbai have accepted to organise redressal camps on Ganesh Yadav's insistence.
Energy Minister Dr. Nitin Raut informed that he has appealed to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission on some issues. Dr Raut also assured that nobody will be charged a penny extra than for what they have consumed.
