Activist demand closer of the bridge still being used despite declared dangerous

A month after BMC declared the bridge on Santacruz (e) Hans Bhugra Marg as dangerous, people still using it for traffic posing threat to commuters. RTI activist Anil Galgali has found this brazen violation and has alerted the concerned authorities urging them to stop the traffic passing over it and finish the renovation work of the old and dangerous building. Alerting the local administration, Galgali has said that in case of any eventuality, BMC and traffic police would jointly be held responsible.

Notably, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had issued a press note last month announcing the closure of the bridge from November 23. The bridge connects Hans Bhugra Marg to Western Express Highway. "But unfortunately, the bridge have not been closed till today and the traffic service is still on. While the condition of this bridge is very dangerous and there have been cracks at many places," Galgali pointed out after vising the bridge personally.

Anil Galgali said that he has written a letter to BMC commissioner Praveen Singh Pardeshi, Mumbai Police commissioner Sanjay Barwe demanding immediate action on the entire issue. Galgali also said that if BMC officials have submitted a fake report about the bridge, then there should be an inquiry and action be taken against them for jeopardizing people's lives.
