Inquiry report on allegations of plagiarism of PhD thesis against Dr Neeraj Hatekar ready

An inquiry report into the allegations against Dr Neeraj Hatekar, a professor of econometrics with Mumbai University, and has been accused of plagiarism of the PhD thesis has become ready and it will be provided after the same is tabled before the Manager Council of the University, was the reply provided by the University to a RTI query filed by RTI Activist Anil Galgali.

The Governor and the Vice Chancellor of the Mumbai University had instituted an enquiry on the allegations received by them stating that Dr Neeraj Hatekar had indulged in plagiarism by copying and submitting his PhD thesis from his wife Dr Rajini Mathur's thesis. RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought the copy of the enquiry report from the Mumbai University. The Dy Registrar of the management department of the Mumbai University in its reply informed Galgali that, the copy of the report of the enquiry against Dr Hatekar would be provided only after it is tabled before the Management Council for decision. In a statement issued, Anil Galgali has sought immediate tabling of the enquiry report and the report being made public. He further stated that no further delay should be done in taking appropriate decision on the matter so as it doesn't damage the image of the Mumbai University.
