In response to the RTI application made by RTI Activist Anil Galgali, MCGM informed that the examination was conducted through M/S Mahaonline company and 44% candidates have successfully passed the exams. MCGM informed that about 1,06,193 candidates passed this exam whereas ₹15.13 Cr were recieved as fees ,this is the first time that Biometric system was successfully used in this examination process.

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had filed a RTI seeking information about the details of the process and in reply to the said application the MCGM informed that there were 1388 vacancies for the post of labour, worker, loader etc for which 2,87,088 application's were recieved amongst which 2,40,495 applicants appeared for the exam which was conducted for 10 days continuously from 15th feb to 25th Feb 2018.

It was for the first time that every candidate who appeared for the exam was sent the question paper, his own answer paper along with the correct answers via email on 28 feb 2018. The syllabus for the exam was approved by the Dy. Commissioner (administration) and Additional Commissioner (City) and the exam were conducted according to this syllabus by M/s Mahaonline Company.

It was informed that ₹ 521.56 was to be paid per candidate to M/S Mahaonline Company which is a State Government company and accordingly ₹14,97,80,864/- were paid till date and ₹15,87,136/- is still payable. These exams were conducted using biometric system and after the selection list is ready the further process will also be conducted using this system. The responsibility right from recieving applications to the selection is on the Mahaonline company and the company will also provide its services in complaint redressal, RTI Query, Judicial Matters etc in future.

Anil Galgali appreciated the efforts and precautions taken by the MCGM and even though lakhs of candidates applied and appeared for the exam there were no loop holes, no paper leaks and also the correct answer keys were also sent via email. Mumbai University should  take a lesson from this and should have faith in government company instead of private company for conducting online exams and also for online paper corrections, add Galgali.
