Govt pays Rs 3.09 per 500 new note

In RTI response to RTI Activist Anil Galgali on the printing cost of currency notes has revealed that Government of India pays Rs 3.09 per 500 new note. 

The application was filed  by RTI Activist Anil Galgali. Deputy General Manager P Wilson inform Galgali that the selling price is Rs 3090 per thousands pieces of Rs 500 denomination of new design bank notes printed by there company BRBNMPL For the financial year 2016-17. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) owned Bhartiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL) sells the notes of Rs 500 at a cost of  Rs 3.09  to the authorities. 

The RTI also sought information regarding details of the newly printed Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes order placed for how much quantity to print, it's number, value, the total amount contract, amount released and amount pending.  The BRBNMPL, on the hand, denied information stating “the information cannot be provided since it is considered as exempted information that falls under the ambit of section 8(1)(a) of the Right to Information Act, 2005.
