Considering the inconvenience to the citizens to cross the road on Kurla Paschim Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, the municipality decided to construct a skywalk but the work has been stalled for the past 2 years. RTI activist Anil Galgali has been informed by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation that the stalled skywalk in Kurlya will be completed on April 23, 2024.
RTI activist Anil Galgali had asked the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for various information regarding the stalled skywalk in Kurla West. Amit Bhandari, Assistant Engineer, Bridge Department, Mumbai Municipal Corporation, informed Anil Galgali that on August 18, 2021, a work order was issued to the company NA Construction Private Limited. 15.40 crore contract and the work was required to be completed in 15 months. The Skywalk from Taxi Main Colony at BKC on Kurla West, Bherulal Marg to Srikrishna Chowk at New Mill Road has been closed for the past 254 days. A fine of only 25 thousand has been levied on the contractor. At present the work has been stopped for the rainy season.
According to Anil Galgali, this skywalk is important. Today, thousands of citizens cross the LBS route risking their lives. Traffic was affected due to this. Although the municipality has extended the deadline, the work must be completed within this deadline.
