After Kalbadevi fire Mumbai Fire Brigade gets equipment worth 59 crores

After the Kalbadevi fire incident, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has opened up its purses, and sanctioned Rs 59 crores enabling the Mumbai Fire Brigade to purchase 6 types of necessary equipment in the past 3 years as per the information provided to RTI Activist Anil Galgali.

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the Mumbai Fire Brigade regarding the required equipment for dealing with fire incidents after the Kalbadevi fire, details about the complete requirement and equipment purchased from the list was sought. The Divisional Fire Officer Shri SD Sawant from the Mumbai Fire Brigade informed Galgali that, 22 no's of light portable pumps costing Rs 3 crore 41 lakhs 35 thousand 358 was purchased. Further 35 no's of  LED lights costing Rs 95 lakhs 76 thousand 840. 42 Quick response vehicles costing Rs 42 crores 45 lakhs 64 thousand 114. Fire Engines 6 nos costing Rs 3 crores 63 lakhs 11thousand 827, 5 no's of High Pressure Pumps costing Rs 62 lakhs 43 thousands 14. It also purchased 11 nos of Water Tanker of 14 kiloleters capacity costing Rs 7 crores 94 lakhs 81 thousand 745.

The Mumbai Municipal corporation has now provided adequate funds for the resources and equipment expressed Galgali and stated that now it is the responsibility of the Cheif Fire Officer and his officers to perform its task diligently and with responsibility.
