After 32 months, the Charity Commissioner has taken note of the complaint lodged by RTI activist Anil Galgali regarding irregularities, confusion and irregular appointments in the work of Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya. In connection with the complaint, the office of the Charity Commissioner has sought an explanation regarding the properties sold by the Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya.
RTI activist and life member Anil Galgali had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister on 14/02/2019 regarding election, financial scams and property issues in Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya. After thet then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered an inquiry into the matter on 28/03/2019 but unfortunately the office of the Charity Commissioner did not take action in time. This report was prepared on 08/10/2021 after 32 months. In the case of the properties of Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya which already sold, it has been recommended in this 6 page report to ask for the explanation from the Sangrahalya.
According to the report, the Office of the Charity Commissioner has not approved the constitution amendment, election of the executive board, trustees and appointments of the organization. All change reports are pending since 2013. However, the office bearers of the organization have arbitrarily conducted financial transactions including elections. The appointment of all office bearers is in dispute. The Office of the Charity Commissioner took immediate action and banned all transactions of these office bearers of the organization, said Anil Galgali.
