CM's Secretary takes possession of Mumbai's Hydraulic Engineer's bunglow

Pravin Darade, Secretary to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has been found in possession of Bungalow previously reserved for housing The Hydraulic Engineer of Mumbai. An RTI inquiry by Activist Anil Galgali revealed that breaking all norms Darade has been allotted this prime Malabar Hill bungalow belonging to the water department of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCMG). RTI Activist Anil Galgali had filed an RTI seeking details of official accommodation granted to Additional commissioners of MCMG -Dr Sanjay Mukherji & Pallavi Darade. It was shockingly revealed that Mukherji has spent more than one crores from funds sanctioned to water department, for repairs & maintenance of his Bungalow. Meanwhile, Mrs Darade in hastily issued written orders to her subordinates on 10th June 2016 blocked all information sought under RTI regarding the allotment and maintenance of bungalows. The reason for her panic reaction has now come to light. The bungalow was irregularly alloted to her IAS husband, who to the convienience of both, holds the key post of Secretary, In charge of Chief Ministers Office. Mr Darade was alloted this 4830 square foot bunglow that was vacant since transfer of previous occupant Vikas Kharge. After Kharge this prime bungalow had been allotted to Dr Sanjay Deshmukh, who prefered to stay in his Government allotted flat. Anil Galgali has written to MCGM Commissioner Ajoy Mehta seeking inquiry in to how this bungalow was allotted to civil servant posted at Mantralaya, whose house allotment come under the perview of General Administration Department of state Govt. & certainly not the Municipal Corporation. He also pointed out that this bungalow is situated in vicinity of Malabar Hill reservoir, a major water supply source to the city of Mumbai. Therefore it is logical that it is occupied by The Hydraulic Engineer, who being responsible for the water supply of Mumbai, be at hand to attend to emergencies.
