CII paid Rs 8 lakhs to BMC to clear chowpatty post 'Make In India' fire disaster

The Maharashtra Rajni show organised under the auspices of the Make In India banner got destroyed in fire, the BMC too has to bear a cost of Rs 8 lakhs for clearing and removal of debris from the spot, this information was provided to RTI activist Anil Galgali by the Municipal administration. After Anil Galgali RTI & written complaint immediately Regional Director, Confederation of Indian Industries ( CII) has paid the dues on 4th March 2016 to Bmc. RTI Activist Anil Galgali RTI query expose the CII and negligence towards to pay the due. Bmc D ward Assistant Engineer informed Galgali that on 4th March 2016, CII paid fully due amount. The debris of fire gutted structure from Chowpathy was cleaned by the next morning with the help of 10 JCB's, 39 Dumpers (67 Trips), 2 Compactors, 198 labour staff and 80 supervisory staff in two shifts. Since it was the duty of the event organizer to arrange to clear the chowpathy and hence are liable to compensate for the expenses made by Bmc. Bmc directed to reimburse the amount Rs 8,06,952/- to bmc immediately in 7 days. In February 2016 RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the BMC about the clearing of the site post the fire incident on 14 February 2016 at the Maharashtra Rajani show held under the auspices of the Make In India program held at Girgaum chowpatty. The Asst Engineer, Solid Waste mgmt of the D Ward informed Galgali that, after the fire incident the BMC had to clean almost 315 metric tonnes of debris and damaged metarials for which it had to spend almost Rs 8 lakhs 6 thousand 952. The work was executed by D Ward staff using infrastructure and implementsof the ward and other departments, vehicles, own Labour and Labour for non government agencies. Simultaneously the cost incurred for the clean up was intimated to the organizers of the show, the Regional Director of the Confederation of Indian Industries and told to pay up, but they have failed to respond to the demand.
