BJP MLA Dr Vijaykumar Gavit deliberately suppressed information about his dues in Election Nomination

BJP MLA Dr Vijaykumar Gavit is alleged to have deliberately suppressed information about his dues payable to the state Government on account of his overstaying in Ministerial accommodation. RTI activist Anil Galgali has filed complaint with the Election commission demanding Gawit's disqualification on this ground.

Dr Vijaykumar Gavit has been elected to Maharashtra Assembly from Nandurbar (ST) seat. Earlier Gavit as Medical Education Minister had occupied Government residence in 'Suruchi', which he failed to surrender after he was removed from ministry. A sum of Rs 44 lakh is due to be paid to PWD department for irregular occupation of Ministerial accommodation after he ceased to be a minister. Anil Galgali has pointed out that while filing nomination paper for Assembly elections in 2014, Dr Gavit has written 'nil' in the column, where he was supposed to mention Government dues. He had been removed from Maharashtra Ministry in March 2014 and he was still holding possession of Government acomadation.

Anil Galgali pointed that Supreme court of India on 2 May 2002 has directed The Election Commission to call for information on affidavit from candidates about "Liabilities, if any, particularly whether there are any over dues of any public financial institution or government dues." Gavit has impeached Election commission rules by withholding information about the Government dues. He should be disqualified from membership of state Assembly for wilful & delibrate suppression of facts, Submitted on oath the Election Commission, Galgali argued. Copies of this complaint have been marked to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Swadhin Kshatriya. Dr Gavit case fully clear and if party like BJP asked resginiation from him, it's welcome by Citizen of maharashtra, said Galgali.
