Government of Maharashtra does not have any details of raids conducted on 'Dal' horder in the State
Maharashtra Government has recently claimed of conducting major raids on horders. With no information available about raids, doubts are being raised about the veracity of earlier statements in Govt. Food, civil supplies & consumer protection department claims that they not kept record, in a reply to RTI Activist Anil Galgali who filed a query.
RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought details from Food, civil supplies & consumer protection department about pulses siezed during raids, their market price & criminal action taken against these black marketers. Replying to his RTI application dated 5th November, under secretary & Public Information officer Praveen Nalawade told Anil Galgali that collection and decimination of information about quantity of Dal siezed in raid, its market price, limit imposed on storage & criminal or other proceedings against shopkeepers/ horders breaking this rule, Fine's imposed & details are concerned police station are kept by Collector & Controllor of Rationing. Citing Govt circular dated 06/09/2008, he is not bound to collect this information, the officer said. Get it from concerned department, he retorted.
Galgali has appealed against this order, to Deputy Secretary Shri Supe.
'It is indeed surprising that department has not even bothered to collect information on such vital issue concerning everyday needs of the common man', Galgali said. Such apathy of government officials, is the very reason of unhindered growth of horders & black marketers, Galgali argued.
