Aftab Khan Awaiting for green signal from the Centre for a Cochlear Implants Surgery

If and when the Centre decides to give a nod for the surgery to be performed on Aftab Khan, the sooner he would be able to hear once again. This is a story of a 4 year Aftab Khan whose " hearing " depends on Governments approval, which has been delayed for over a year now. The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped is waiting for the nod to perform Cochlear Implants Surgery on the 4 year When will the wait get over for Aftab Khan? Awaiting for green signal from the Centre for a Cochlear Implants Surgery old. Taking the matter in his own hands RTI activist Anil Galgali has lodged a complain with Central Social Justice Minister Thavar Chand Gahlot to initiate action against the errant officers and the Doctors for negligence of the duties. 4 year old Aaftab, a Sakinaka Andheri (East) resident has been waiting for the Governments approval for the complicated Cochlear Implant Surgery since 20th November 2014. On 17th December the Khan family recieved a go ahead for the surgery from the The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped institution and accordingly a letter was sent accordingly on the 12th of February 2015 to one Dr. Bachi Hathiram intimating him of the case who is based in the Nair Hospital. After a visit for nearly 45 times, for same purpose Dr. Bachi and one Dr. Vicky checked Aaftab only 6 times. Accordingly a report was made and again sent to the The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped. On 20th may 2015 BJP MP Dr. Kirit Somayya invited Aaftab to convey his feelings to CM Fadnavis who was present at the Governor House on 26th of May 2015. Aftab get hearing implant machine which costed RS. 13,500/-. The machine was donated by none other than Bollywood star Salman and Arbaaz Khan. But the machine proved futile and only way that Aaftab could hear again was after performing of Cohlear Implant Surgery. This is how The Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, a Centre runned institution is making Aaftab wait for more than a year to get his hearing back. Similarly Kalyan resident Shakir Beg's children Hasnan and daughter Hamza are doing the rounds of the Insitution for more than 8 months now. Galgali has written to the Centre Social Justice Ministry to look into the matter and either say a yes or a no to perform such surgeries. Playing with a life of 4 year old, is not acceptable says Galgali. He has also come with inviting suggestions from the Government to suggest alternate ways of getting surgeries done. This is injustice on handicapped perople, feels Galgali. Aftab's father Abdul Rahim Khan is totally dependant on the governments institution for surgery of his son, so that he can start hearing again and begin his education. In this matter Galgali had tweeted about the incident to the Minister, who in turn has asked for a request letter, which has been mailed to him by Abdul Khan on the 18th of December.
