Modi sarkar's 2nd Anniversary celebration in print media costs Rs 35.58 crores

Narendra Modi government completed its two years in power and in the process of expressing it's happiness it indulged in spending Rs 35 crores 58 lakhs 70 thousand 388 by publishing huge advertisement in 11236 news papers all over the country as per the information provided by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to RTI Activist Anil Galgali. RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information on the expenses incurred by the government for publishing advertisements in leading newspapers across the country on its 2nd Anniversary on 26th May 2016. The Public Information Officer of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity ( DAVP) Rupa Vedi provided an CD free of cost containing information about Advertisements issued in 11236 leading newspapers across the country. It contained the advertisements and the costs of each advertisements in 179 pages. The total expenses incurred was to a tune of Rs 35 crores 58 Lakh's 70 Thousand 388. Anil Galgali also sought the details of expenses incurred by the government during the 2nd anniversary of the Manmohan Singh govt. The Public Information Officer of the DAVP Rupa Vedi Informed Galgali that there was no publicity campaign Conducted by the DAVP on the completion of the Manmohan Singh govt. Providing information about the expenses incurred on the publicity campaign of the Modi government in the print media, it has not provided the expenses related to campaign carried out through the other forms of media like electronic, social media etc and hence have concealed the true expenses incurred on celebration of its completion of its 2nd year in office. Anil Galgali in a letter addressed to PM Narendra Modi has requested that the government make its expenses public by putting the information on its website like it has done in the case of expenses incurred on various foreign trips. Galgali further appealed to the PM that looking at the fragile condition of the economy it was not appropriate to overlook the policy of austerity and hence should not indulge in wasteful expenditures.
