Mumbai University's rehabilitation plan of retired officials costs it Rs 2.80 lakhs


Though Mumbai University has with it competent people to head it's various departments, it has rehabilitated 12 person's retired from all over the state on positions like Officer on Special Duty,  Coordinator etc and there by spending Rs 2.80 lakhs per month on them, as per the information provided by the Mumbai University to RTI Activist Anil Galgali.
RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information about the various appointments of retired officials and staff in the year 2016 by the Mumbai University. The Asst Registrar of Mumbai University Vikas Daware informed Galgali that, out of the 12 appointments, 9 people retired personal from the Mumbai University and 3 are retired from the state government. Of the 5 Special Executive Officer's, M V Padmanabhan (25000/-) retired from Vice Chancellor's office, V R Shintre from Finance and Audit ( 20000/-), D R Shewale from Pay & Account office ( 20000/-), Krishnakant Parab , Transport commissioner office ( 20000/-), and Mohan Satam from the Dairy development department (20000/-), are retired from the respective departments. Out of the 4 coordinators R G Kamble from Post Graduate department  (25000/-), S G Mhaske , Professor Appointments department (15000/-), Blanche D'Souza , Vice Chancellor's office ( 25000/-), and Anil Kumar Gawde (40,000/-) from the Higher and Technical Education, Pune. Pushkaran Chandran from the Mumbai University's Regional Division office has been appointed as Dy Engineer Electrical (40000/-), and Prakash Chavan as Electrical Technician (15000/-) has been appointed. K B Magodia, retired from the Press department has been appointed as Superintendent and is paid Rs 15000/- per month.
Anil Galgali has raised objections to such appointments of 12 retired persons, by the Mumbai University and that too at a time when it's own financial condition is not sound which is wasting Rs 2.80 lakhs per month. In a letter addressed to Governor, Galgali has demanded that the appointments be cancelled and an enquiry be conducted on the Vice Chancellor for carrying out such appointments.
