23% of complaints lodged on 1916, pending

BMC dedicated complaint number 1916 to resolve the various complaints of Mumbaikar. The complaints from citizens have actually spiralled down. Hardly something to celebrate about! The record of attending to complaints is quite dismal, as 23% complaints remain to be addressed, as per the information provided by the BMC Disaster Management Cell to RTI Activist Anil Galgali. Interesting is that During the last 33 months 3,39,664 were received. 3,02,837 of these were sorted out. 36,647 are still shown as pending.
RTI activist Anil Galgali has obtained official record pertaining to 4 digit complaint number “1916” of last 33 Months. In the year 2014 Total 1,57,317 complaints were registered by harried citizens. Out of these 18,578 are still shown 'pending' in the BMC records. In the following year, 2015 the number of complaints came down to 1,16,625.  2,909 Complaints of these are as yet pending. The trend has not changed & the number of complaints is likely to register a substantial fall this year too. From 1st January to 30th September 2016, a total of 65,722 complaints were recieved on the BMC helpline. About 15,160 of these are yet to be sorted out. During the last 33 months 3,39,664 were received. 3,02,837 of these were sorted out. 36,647 are still shown as pending.
Of the complaints received, Govandi M East with 17,391 calls has registered highest number of complaints regarding Maintenance department. The Rest Chembur M West ( 13,733) & Kurla L Ward (10,697). Wardwise A (1368), B (932), C (1022), D (2376), E (1304), F South (852), F North (2168), G North (1649), G South (1343), H East (1963), H West (2216), K East (4943), K West (4570), P South (3147), P North (3873), R South (4398), R Central (3074), R North (1117), N (3227), S (2540) & T (1628).
In Building & Factory department complaints of Kurla L Ward takes the lead 15,845 complaints. Govandi M East (9,457) & Chembur M West (8,068) are on 2nd & 3rd place. The rest A (630), B (1011), C (1180), D (2208), E (1435), F South (657), F North (843), G North (1725), G South (1239), H East (1563), H West (1625), K East (3799), K West (3193), P South (2123), P North (3731), R South (2447), R Central (1763), R North (1104), N (1635), S (1876) & T (1086).
Anil Galgali has written to BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta and demand that BMC should give  a 'Worst Ward Award' like the 'Officer of Monthly' So that non-performing officers are at least shamed in to working towards solving public grievances.
