Padma Bhushan Shapoorji Pallonji partnered S D Corporation ditches Mumbai Police

S D Corporation, which has constructed the twin Imperial Tower at Tardeo and has Padma Bhushan Shapoorji Pallonji as its partner has ditched the Mumbai Police of 3025.75 Sq Mtrs of constructed space on the plot which had reservation for Mumbai Police. It is the same plot on which the twin Imperial Tower has been constructed as an SRA project. The Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai Police is investigating the case has been revealed to RTI activist Anil Galgali by the Mumbai Police. Recently PM Narendra Modi led BJP government has conferred it's most prestigious award the Padma Bhushan to Shapoorji Pallonji. RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the Maharashtra state Police housing and welfare corporation details about land availability and current status of that land, for police housing all over the state on 19th October 2015, which was transferred to the various police Commissioneraites . The Public Information officer & Asst Police Commissioner Shri Sanjay Rangnekar of the Mumbai Police Commissioneraite provided Anil Galgali information about 4 cases where the Mumbai Police has been duped of constructed tenements, which includes the Shapoorji Pallonji partnered S D Corporation. 4.26 hectares of land belonging to M P Mill Compound was encroached by slums, the Revenue and Forest dept of the Maharashtra govt issued order for redevelopment of the compound on 2/2/1989. Out of the 4.26 hectares of the land 3.31 hectares was marked out for slum redevelopment and the rest 0.95 hectares (9500 Sq Mtrs) was ordered to be reserved for police department. In the Letter of Intent (LOI) issued by the SRA it was ordered to the developers, Padma Bhushan Shapoorji Pallonji partnered S D Corporation, to provide 3025.75 Sq Mtrs of constructed space free of cost in lieu of 9100 Sq Mtrs of land space on the plot leading to 68 tenements as per plan approved. But as per the order dated 2/2/1989 it was ordered to reserve 0.95 hectares (9500 Sq Mtrs) to be reserved for the police department but the SRA LOI mentioned 9100 Sq Mtrs of land, where by the police department was cheated of 400 Sq Mtrs of land. Hence the Additional DG, Police Housing in a letter 7th may 2015, addressed to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria requested a detailed investigation by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) into the case. Rakesh Maria ordered the Jt Commissioner EOW to carry out investigation and submit report in the case on 24 June 2015. The case is presently with the Sr PI Kapse. Padma Bhushan Shapoorji Pallonji partnered S D Corporation constructed its twin Imperial Tower immediately but has still not handed over to the Mumbai Police, neither land nor the 3025.75 Sq Mtrs of constructed space. It is important to highlight here that the project is in progress for past 17 years. In the present context and looking at the enquiry in the case of virtual cheating by the S D Corporation, it was highly inappropriate of the BJP govt to confer an award like Padma Bhushan to a partner of the firm being investigated for cheating the police department itself expressed Anil Galgali. He further stated that in case of an scenario of an FIR being registered against the firm, it will be an awkward situation and will bring disrespect to an award like Padma Bhushan feared Galgali. In cases similar to the Padma Bhushan Shapoorji Pallonji partnered S D Corporation, 3 more developers had cheated the Mumbai Police, have assured to recorrect itself, M/s Logistix has agreed to handover 11 tenements in its project at Yari road, Versova. On the MHADA owned land which has 748 Sq Mtrs reserved for police department, M/s Richa Developers has agreed to construct a police station free of cost and hand over 60 tenements at nominal cost to the police department. Similarly at Vikhroli, Tagore nagar, M/s Aditya Enterprises is redeveloping the Bldg no 54, without permission from the police department, which owns 8 tenements in the bldg. The developer has informed that it has taken permission from MHADA & 8 tenements handover to Mumbai Police after pay due amount.
