All major Govt Departments were brought under the Revolutionary Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act 2015 a few years back, but the MMRDA, which is incidentally headed by the CM was kept out of the purview of the Act. After an complaint cum suggestion of RTI Activist Anil Galgali the Act has now been implemented in the MMRDA as well.
RTI Activist Anil Galgali had in a letter dt 7th October 2017 addressed to CM Devendra Fadnavis and MMRDA Commissioner had demanded that the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act be made applicable to MMRDA as well. The MMRDA administration on 15th January 2018 informed Galgali that the process of implementation of the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act has been initiated. Then again on 18th May 2018, the Personal Officer of MMRDA, Mahesh Bhoi informed Galgali that, the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act 2015 has been made applicable to the MMRDA and as per Section 3(2) of Act, the services under the Act, the Time for the provided services and the names of the designated officers for those services along with the names of the 1st Appellate and 2nd Appellate officers have been finalized and the same has been uploaded on the MMRDA website. Similarly the information as per proforma, along with the names of the designated officers have been displayed on the entrance of the Old and New building of the MMRDA office.
In a statement issued, Anil Galgali stated that, now it will be possible for the common man to avail the services of the MMRDA in time bound period and the officers who were responsible for delay and lax services would be punished. Also for the services the public would be saved from writing and approaching to CM and senior authority officials. He further expressed that the public would now obtain information within 30 days about the action taken on their letters, he appealed to the public to utilize the services under the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act for their benefit.
