Annual Average cost for CM Devendra Fadnavis Air Travel costs Rs. 6 crore!

Annual average cost of air travel of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is Rs. 6 crore. CMO informs in a RTI query filed by RTI Activist Anil Galgali. Interesting that Chopper Accident and unavailability of pilots/Aircraft increases the air travel cost.

RTI Activist Anil Galgali ask the information of CM Devendra Fadnavis Air Travel Cost to CMO. As per the information given by CM office Rs. 5.37 crore spent in 2014-15, Rs. 5.42 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 7.23 crore in 2016-17 on CMs air travel. Meanwhile, after the chopper crash of CM Devendra Fadnavis, chopper has completely gone out of order. And so, the Maharashtra Government had to hire chopper on rental basis since that May 2017. So Rs. 6.19 crore got spent only on chopper rent.  Also, Maharashtra Government too owns an aircraft but the pilot has left the job and so for almost an year that aircraft too couldn’t get utilized. That is why Government had to spend either on rent of the aircraft or hiring pilots on contract basis which costed the Govt Rs 13.24 cr. It was found that pilots are repeatedly leaving jobs and so the Govt had to take services of foreign pilots for which necessary rules and administrative procedures were taken care of.

After the chopper crash in May 2017, the process to procure new choppers was initiated in June 2017 itself. Tenders called globally and complete process was carried out in a transparent manner, so much so that a Committee too was appointed in which officers from the Indian Navy, Coast guard, AAI, are the members. A GR too has been issued for this procurement, informed CMO official to Anil Galgali.
