67% Officer's post Vacant at Women & Child Welfare Commissionerate

In what may be called as a shocking revelation, Women & Child Welfare Commissionerate who's responsibility of coordinating with social work institutions lies with the officers of this department, is functioning with just about 33% of sanctioned strength of Class 1 & Class 2 Officer's. According to information procured by Anil Galgali under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, at present almost 464 out of 692 posts of Officer's ie 67% are lying vacant in the Progressive Maharashtra. Shockingly the Post of Commissioner & Secretary is with the Same person Vinita Ved Singhal.

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information about the total strength and the status of Class 1 & Class 2 Officers from Women & Child Welfare Commissioner Office. Replying to his query, the Public Information Officer and Office Superintendent of Women & Child Welfare Commissionerate informed Galgali that,  429 out of the 554 posts of the Child Development Project Officer, Rural Project ( Class 1 Category ) are lying vacant and 33 out of the 104 posts for Child Development Project Officer,   Urban Project ( Class 1 Category ) are also vacant. Similarly, 2 out of the 34 posts of Women & Child Officer, District Council are Vacant.

Government has demoted and appointed Vinita Ved Singhal as Secretary of Women and Child Welfare department in place of Sanjay Kumar who was transferred somewhere else. She previously was commissioner in the integraged Child Welfare Scheme. She was also given Additional Charge of Commissionerate

Maharashtra government had created this department in 1993 with independent charge. The objective of this department was to protect the lives of children and women, to provide them security and to help them to develop and grow and to help them socially, to formulate policies and schemes and to see that they are implemented along with the coordination with social walfare institutions. With 67% vacant posts the objective and coordination of this department is a totally failure. If an inquiry of the Commissionerate work in the last two years is instituted under Lokayukta then definitely the corruption and malpractice's of this department will be discovered. Galgali requested the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to inquire in this matter and filed all the vacant posts at the earliest for proper working and coordination.
