Raids conducted against hoarders of Dal and oil is 5592 But cases registered is just 50 in Maharashtra

'Daal mein kuch kaala hai' is a dialog which the common man is accustomed to hear in films and use in conversations, but now it has come to light vide an response to an RTI query filed by RTI Activist Anil Galgali that post the skyrocketing of the prices of Toor Daal and the much publicized raids conducted by the state govt on the hoarders Dal and Oil yielded commodities worth Rs 539.50 crores through the 5592 raids conducted. But the most shocking part is that when it came to registering cases against the hoarders the govt seems to have dithered and a paltry 50 cases have been registered. RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought from the state govt information related to Stock confiscated, cost and cases registered against the hoarders of Dal & Oil by the state govt. The govt tried to evade responding to the query forcing Galgali to file the 1st Appeal with the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection Dept. The Dy Secretary of the Dept Shri Supe on the hearing conducted by him provided information stating that in a total of 5592 raids conducted by the dept after inspection of the godowns, essential commodites like Dal, Oil & Oilseeds totaling quantity 1,36,921.833 Metric tons worth Rs 539 crores 50 lakhs 15 Thousand 745 was siezed and 50 cases have been registered. # Maximum Stock siezures in Mumbai & Thane. Aurangabad with Rs 4 crores 29 lakhs 66 thousand 800, Pune yielded Rs 5,65,73,556/=, Amravati Rs 5,12, 01, 000/= worth of stacks siezed. # Pune tops in most number of cases filed. It is worth noting that in the Nagpur division comprising of Nagpur city, Nagpur rural, Wardha, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia, & Gadchiroli, a total of 477 raids were conducted, but not a single case has been registered against the offenders. Similarily no cases has been registered in Amravati division. Anil Galgali in a letter addressed to CM Devendra Fadnavis has demanded that, the names against whom the cases have been registered should atleast be made public. He expressed surprise on the ratio of cases registered vis a vis the Raids conducted stating that "Dhhaad mein kuch kaala hai". He also stated that to curb black marketing and hoarding all the transactions be computerized to bring transparency.
