Dombivali is the most crowded station in the Central Line of Mumbai Local.

In all of the 85 stations on the Century route of Local railway of the Mumbai city, Dombivali remains at the top in terms of the number of passenger's travelling to and from the station and thus generating highest revenue everyday for the Central route. A total 2,33,635 passenger board everyday generating Rs 2,33,635 /- everyday. This information was given by the Central Railway department to RTI activist Anil Galgali. 38,56,419 passenger's board everyday Central line of Mumbai Local & everyday generating Rs. 2,19,12,833/- everyday. Dombivali, Thane, Kalyan, Ghatkopar and Kurla are the top 5 most crowded stations on the Central Line of Mumbai Local. RTI activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the Central Railway administration about the total number of passenger travelling everyday by the local train, thus income generated and total number of passenger boarding station-wise. Senior Commercial officer of the Central Railway Dr Alok Budkul in reply Galgali to this RTI query said that in all the 85 stations under 5 services Right from CST to Kasara, Khopoli, Panvel, Andheri & Thane-Vashi-Navi Mumbai. The total income generated is Rs. 2,19,12,837/- and a total of 38,56,419 passenger use Railway facility to travel. Dombivali has the highest number of passenger using local facility i.e. 2,33,635 which is followed by Thane (2,25,490), Kalyan (1,80,676), Ghatkopar(1,74,926) and Kurla(1,50,708). A total of Rs. 2,19,12,837 is generated in terms of income on the Central Railway Line. Dombivali tops the chart here as well. Domibvali (14,94,538), Thane (13,84,020), Kalyan (12,55,045), Ghatkopar (9,32,485) & CST (8,97,373) Anil Galgali was keen on knowing information as to how many train trips were organised per day to meet needs of so many commuters, to which in its reply Central railway said that the said information i.e published in railway Time Table. But as on today, there are total 121 racks that are put in use and a total of 1618 train trips are made. Approx one train comprises of 2383 passengers. Anil Galgali feels that all Statistics supply by Central Railway was average and during peak hours its became double.The train trips are very less in comparison to the passengers travelling everyday on the Central line. Train trips are increased, the chances of accidents of passengers will reduce drastically, add Galgali.
