MRTP notices issued to Unauthorized Construction belonging to Amitabh Bachchan

MRTP notices have been issued by MCGM on an Unauthorized Construction belonging Superstar actor Amitabh Bachchan, and the ammended plans submitted by the Architect to the Building Proposal department has also been rejected. This information can be understood from the reply and documents provided by MCGM to RTI Activist Anil Galgali. Another aspect that can be understood from the actions is that, the MCGM which is prompt in actions on violation by poor and ordinary people, seems to dither when actions have to be taken on violations by the rich and famous.

RTI Activist Anil Galgali had sought information from the P South Ward Office of the MCGM about the MRTP notices issued against Amitabh Bachchan and others. In the information provided to Galgali by The P South Ward Office informed that, notices Under MRTP have been issued to 7 persons including Amitabh Bachchan, Rajkumar Hirani, Oberoi Realty, Pankaj Balaji, Sanjay Vyas, Haresh Khandelwal , Haresh Jagtani etc on 7th December 2016,  for the variations observed in contrast of the Approved plans. Prior to issuing notice a site visit ( Oberoi Seven, Goregaon East)  was organised by the P South ward officials. During the inspection it was observed in  Wing nos 2,3,5 and 6 that they were unoccupied and the internal walls as per the approved OC plans were not in places, Lifts were not installed, No internal works like fixing of tiles on the ground floor and staircase was done, Plaster of walls was not done, No security grills on the staircase, Balcony walls not constructed, Inclusion of Elevation projection spaces into flats, Covering the open Elevation spaces by fixing the windows on elevation slabs and enclosing the spaces inside the flats. The Basement works were also not as per the approved sanctioned plans. 

On receiving the MRTP notices, the Architect Shashank Kokil submitted proposal on 5th January 2017 which was rejected by the MCGM's Building Proposal department on 17th March 2017. This rejection was conveyed to the Architect vide it's letter dt 11th April 2017 along with a copy to P south ward as information and conveying its final order to remove all the illegal construction and violation. The P South Ward Office also issued a final order Dt 6th May 2017 to themselves remove the violation and restore as per Original sanctioned plans. Thereafter the Architect Shashank Kokil resubmitted ammended plans. The P South Ward Office issued a letter on 12th September 2017 to the building proposal department, informally alleging that due to non clarity on the regularisation proposal it is becoming difficult for the Ward Office to proceed further on the actions as per the MRTP Act, hence requesting them to clarify on the matter. 

Anil Galgali in a letter addressed to CM Devendra Fadnavis and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has demanded immediate action under the MRTP Act and carrying out the demolition of the illegal extension and enclosures. Adv Rajesh Dabholkar has also in a letter addressed to Asst Municipal Commissioner, P South Ward has demanded actions on the illegal and unauthorized violation. Galgali further demanded actions against some specific officers of the Building Proposal department who are secretly helpful to the Architect by giving chances to them to get the illegal violation regularised.
